Project Youthanize a group of current and former students from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. A year ago we set out to explore the question: is Generation Y uniquely apathetic?

We produced a short documentary that seeks answers to this question. We titled it “Youthanized” because we assumed that older generations view today’s youth as self-absorbed and indifferent. What we found, however, was quite the opposite.

Through interviews, research, and observing the election process we discovered that people tend to be optimistic about Generation Y’s role in society. Our hope for this film is to get young people to start taking their civic responsibilities more seriously, and realize the tremendous power that we have with grassroots organizing techniques and technology.

Has Generation Y been “youthanized” by popular culture and the likes or are we going to “youthanize” politics and society?
